Our Next CommUnity Dance
January 17th
7:30pm
Our dance in December has been canceled due to so much other stuff going on. Our next dance will be January 17th (on the MLK holiday weekend).
Plan to come on down then to the Todd Mercantile and kick up your heels to the lively sounds of the Laurel Creek String Band at our monthly Community Dance! We’ll be doing Contra’s, Reels, Squares, Waltzes, plus a little bit of flat footing. No experience necessary, the caller runs through all the steps before each dance.
Bring the family too!
Cost is only $5.00 for those over 12
It sure is a “reel” good time!

** Merry Christmas from the Todd Mercantile!

At Christmas, all roads lead home…
————————————————————

** Greetings from downtown Todd,
————————————————————
Tis the season to spend with family and friends. We know not everyone can be with family and friends over the holidays, so Jack and I would like to invite those of you who have no plans for tomorrow to join us and our family at the Todd Mercantile for a pot luck dinner. It will start at 3pm so that those who have plans for church services can get back to get ready in time or if someone needs to get to sleep to wait for the big guy in red. I realize this is late notice, but we just got back into town this past weekend after an unexpected stay in Durham/Chapel Hill.

The Todd Mercantile will be closing after this weekend for a couple months to recharge and restock, etc. We will be open one weekend a month… the holiday weekends which we will also be having our monthly contra dances! We plan to fully reopen in March.

It is with a heart full of love and gratitude that I write this last News Crumb of this 2013. Words cannot express the appreciation that Jack and I feel toward the overwhelming response to what we have been going through these past 8 months. The support we have felt from the community here in Todd has been nothing short of amazing. For those who may not be aware, Jack (my husband) was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma last May. Last weekend our friends here in Todd held a fundraiser for us here at the Mercantile. The community response was humbling. We thank each and everyone of you who came out in the less than favorable weather, for each of you who donated to the auction, and to those who won some fabulous items from the auction! I would also like to thank all the musicians who gave their time and talents that evening – it was amazing! Most importantly I need to thank the people behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to put on the benefit. We love you
all!

Our Lord came into this world as a humble baby in order to show us that love and charity was a way to Him as well the way to a happy and fulfilling life. Your kind words and deeds have exemplified a true understanding of His example and made the celebration of his birth this Christmas all the more meaningful.

Jack has a blog to keep everyone updated with his treatments. If you are interested you can link to it here. (http://whatseatingjack.blogspot.com)

As always, we hope to see you soon in Todd!
Helen
