“We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.” ~Friedrich Nietzsche

Greetings from downtown Todd,

Hey Y’all!

Well, staying open this winter has been interesting! Frozen well pipes, walking off the hill to get into work and high heating bills! I think mother nature is making up for last year’s mellow weather! But that’s okay with me, I love the snow covered grounds and fires in the old wood stove! Plus there’s something to be said for the ‘winter people’ here in the mountains!

This is just a short note to let you know what’s happening the next few weeks here in Todd. First off, we have a potluck dinner and dance TONIGHT! Hope you all can come out and enjoy some good fellowship with your neighbors and friends or make new friends! I have also included below the next 2 dates for upcoming dances so you can mark your calendars now. Always a great time with good food and great exercise! Dances are family friendly and the musicians are amazing!! Live band and callers that run through each dance before hand so if’n you’re not well versed in dancing don’t be a fretting – cost is 5 dollars for those over 12 to pay the musicians for their time and talent.

Also for the next few weeks the store hours are going to be adjusted to only being open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am taking off a few weeks to go on a journey out west. When I return the store will resume normal winter hours. See the box below for our hours. I also will have our facebook page and website updated with hours. Of course, the safety of the staff and customers are most important, so weather may dictate whether we are open or closed also. If weather is happening, please call the store to make sure we are open.

Since we are out of season and do not have as much traffic as usual, quantities and certain items may not be available unless you call ahead. We can make anything you need or want given notice. Also, All of our gluten free options are frozen after being baked to preserve freshness and can be thawed in a matter of moments.

I hope everyone is wintering well and hope to see you soon in the little ole mountain town by the bend in the river that time forgot… Todd! Stay safe and warm out there

“Nature is the one song of praise that never stops singing”. ~ Richard Rohr

And the wood stove smokes and glows
As the fire grows we can warm ourselves

February 16th

March 16th

6:00pm-Dinner (dinner starts at 6:30)

Grab the family and give a holler to your neighbors for our commUnity potluck dinner and oldtime dance. So bring a favorite dish to share, come out and reconnect with old friends, make new ones and enjoy a variety of delicious foods.

After the dinner (about 7:15ish) we’ll break down the tables and chairs and rosen up the bows. Then get ready to promenade your partner around the room and kick up your heels to the live band led by Cecil Gurganus! We’ll be doing Contra’s, Reels, Squares, Waltzes, plus a little bit of flat footing.

If’n you ain’t got experience, no never mind, there ain’t no experience necessary, as the caller runs through all the steps before each dance. And if’n you’re single, there are always people looking for partners to dance!

Bring your neighbors!
Cost is only $5.00 for those over 12 for the dance to pay the extremely talented musicians and callers for their time and talents.

Todd Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept. Update:

The Todd Fire and Rescue Department is looking for volunteers. If you would like to be a volunteer firefighter or EMT stop by the fire dept. and pick up an application. At the last meeting it was determined that they had 17 volunteers and need 20 to open! Training has already begun, but I’m sure it’s not too late to sign up.

The TVFD Board has decided to change their regularly scheduled meeting day to the 2nd Tuesday of the month. This is to allow time for the treasurer to get bills and bank statements in before the meeting. These meetings are OPEN to the public – all are invited to come and help.

The TVFD Board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
